Selling an invisible product
A candle’s core benefit — scent — cannot be printed on a box. Candle packaging sells the promise of it: colour, name, mood photography and the wax visible through a window. The box is a translation layer between an invisible product and a purchase decision, and the brands that grow fastest treat it that deliberately.
The candle box spec
- A window or open-top that shows the wax colour and texture
- Scent name and notes as the hero text — bigger than the brand for new lines
- An insert that seats the jar so glass survives the parcel
- Heat-tolerant board and inks for warm storage and transit
- A lid-and-base or sleeve format that reads giftable
- Burn-time and safety panels placed legibly, not hidden
Low MOQ for scent launches
Candle studios launch scents in seasonal drops — a spring line, a winter collection. A low MOQ of 50 boxes per scent matches a drop’s real volume, lets each scent carry its own artwork, and reprints the winners at volume with tooling stored. No studio should warehouse a year of boxes for a scent that may not survive its season.
