The warehouse is the hidden cost of volume
Wholesale pricing rewards big runs, but a big run has to live somewhere. Storage per pallet per month, cash tied up in board, and the risk of a design change stranding inventory — these are the real costs behind a low unit price. The brands that win at volume are the ones that decouple the run size from the delivery size.
How call-off delivery works
- The full run is produced at wholesale pricing
- Delivery is scheduled in batches — monthly or to demand
- Tooling and dielines are stored; every batch is identical
- Cash and warehouse space are committed only as stock is used
- A design change pauses the schedule instead of stranding a pallet
Test low, scale wholesale
The smart sequence is a 50-unit low MOQ test of the design, then a wholesale run with call-off delivery once it is proven. You get wholesale unit economics without wholesale risk — and because tooling is stored from the test onward, the wholesale run starts cheaper than a cold start would.
