Launch dates do not move, and packaging is usually the last item on the critical path. This guide shows how to sequence custom packaging so it is ready on launch day, when to use a low MOQ test run, and how to avoid a last-minute rush fee.

Lock the structure early
The biggest launch-packaging mistake is leaving the box until last. Lock the structure and dimensions early, even while artwork is still being finalised, so the only remaining variable is a file. A file can be turned around fast; a new dieline cannot.
The launch-day checklist
- Confirm packed product dimensions before quoting
- Approve the dieline and board direction first
- Finalise artwork in CMYK with 3mm bleed
- Approve the digital proof fast — the clock starts there
- Use the 5-day rush lane only if artwork is print-ready
- Build in 2–5 days for delivery to your warehouse
When to use low MOQ for a launch
A launch is the perfect low MOQ use case. Order 100–500 boxes for the launch or pre-order, gather unboxing feedback and photos, then refine the artwork on the next run. You avoid overcommitting on inventory before you know the design works.
